I am currently 17 and would like to move to Japan in the near future to become a mangaka. I've read that the conditions of obtaining a work visa there are either: go to University for 4 years or have 10 years of experience in a work field that they NEED. My problem is that I'm only planning to attend 4 years of art COLLEGE and would like to know if Japan explicitly states that University is required. I would also know if they would even consider 10 manga / digital art experience as actual work field experience, or if they would consider that something the country would need. (Also, does the type of degree I have matter because I don't want to get in trouble for having a 4 year degree in psychology then getting in trouble for working as a mangaka) I am quite willing to go to university for 4 years in a field that I have no interest in if that's what it takes to get a work visa. I've also heard that if you work for a Japanese company they can get a work visa for you, or if you marry a spouse of Japanese descent you can get some type of citizenship. If it is true that I can get a visa by working for a Japanese company, I have a plan to get a contract with a Japanese manga magazine that is also released in Canada and maybe get a visa that way. I saw them on channel M in China, but I can't read Chinese well. I think they're fairly new songs. The 1st has a girl and a guy singing.
